Hugo (Swede) W. Wassell Sheboygan Press
Hugo was born January 7, 1914 in Chicago to the late David and Charlotte (Sandberg) Wassell. He attended local schools.On May 22, 1943 he married Bernice Ida Kramer in Chicago, IL.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII serving soldiers all over the world from the United States Armed Forces Institute.
He was employed as a Computer Programmer/Systems Analyst for Trustmark Insurance Co. for over 30 years retiring in January of 1979. His retirement was recognized by Computerworld Magazine distinguishing him as one of the first computer programmers to retire.
Hugo was a member of Laydon Laurel Masonic Lodge #1057 for over 50 years. He was always well read, studying science, math, and philosophy. He always enjoyed a good mystery novel. He was an avid bowler in his earlier years, and enjoyed golf in his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Bernice, Hugo is survived by his two sons, Loren (Rhonda) Wassell of St. Louis, MO, Wesley (Bonnie) Wassell of Sheboygan; his grandchildren, Courtney (Doug) Guerra of Chicago, IL, Jodi (John) Keller and Lindsey (Dennis) Helgeson, both of Sheboygan. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Turner, Macartney, Tristan, and Gwenyth.
