Insurer Review: MetLife
MetLife was founded in 1868 and is the number one insurer by volume in America. Known for its spokesperson Snoopy, MetLife has a good reputation for customer satisfaction. Curiously, it also has a reputation for sub par claims service, in the bottom five out of 25 rated by JD Powers and Associates. Metropolitan Life Insurance has assets in excess of $3 trillion. Their Standard & Poor rating was dropped from AAA- to AA+ in 2008. That's still considered exceptional.
